Who we are
Smithies Studio is a limited liability partnership registered in England and Wales at Companies House (SMITHIES STUDIO LLP, Company Number OC460734), based in Chepstow, United Kingdom.
We are the data controller for any personal data collected through this website. If you have any questions about how we handle your data, you can contact us at hello@smithies.studio.
What we collect and why
The only personal data we collect is what you choose to provide when you contact us through the form on this website. This may include your name, email address, phone number, business name, and a description of what you are looking to do.
We collect this information solely to respond to your enquiry. We do not use it for marketing, profiling, or any purpose beyond handling your contact.
We also use Vercel Analytics and Vercel Speed Insights to understand how visitors use this site and how it performs. These tools are cookieless and collect only anonymised, aggregated data — such as page views, referrer URLs, device type, and Core Web Vitals performance metrics. IP addresses are used only to derive approximate geographic region and are not stored. No individual visitor is identified or tracked across sessions.
Lawful basis
We process contact form submissions on the basis of legitimate interests — specifically, to respond to business enquiries made to us. We have assessed that this processing is necessary, proportionate, and does not override your rights and interests.
If you become a client, we will also process personal data on the basis of contract performance, in order to deliver the services we have agreed with you.
How long we keep data
Contact form submissions are not stored on our servers. They are transmitted via Resend — our email delivery provider — and delivered directly to our inbox.
We retain email correspondence, including enquiries, for as long as is reasonably necessary to manage business relationships and meet any legal obligations. In practice, this means we keep emails until they are no longer relevant to our ongoing work.
If you would like us to delete the data we hold about you, please contact us at hello@smithies.studio and we will remove it.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR, you have the following rights regarding your personal data. To exercise any of them, contact us at hello@smithies.studio — we will respond within one month.
- Right of access — you can request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Right to rectification — you can ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
- Right to erasure — you can ask us to delete your data in certain circumstances.
- Right to restrict processing — you can ask us to pause how we use your data.
- Right to data portability — you can request your data in a machine-readable format.
- Right to object — you can object to our processing where we rely on legitimate interests.
How to complain
You have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) if you believe we have not handled your personal data correctly. You can reach the ICO at ico.org.uk or by calling 0303 123 1113. We would always prefer the opportunity to resolve your concern directly first — please contact us at hello@smithies.studio.
